IPTAY Donors,

Clemson University Student Government has announced the details of a comprehensive new student ticketing plan. As an invested party to our athletic enterprise – and many of you alumni and some parents of current students – we wanted to take a few moments to let you know how the new plan came about, why we think it will be successful and some of the details.

WHY A NEW STUDENT TICKETING PLAN?

In recent years, Athletics and IPTAY have worked closely with the University and Student Government to find the best way to get tickets into the hands of students. With the remarkable on-field success of our program, the long-standing practice of camping out on the week of the game had become untenable as it caused disruptions to campus operations, missed classes and put undue pressure on students to be physically present (impacting those with online classes, classes in Greenville, etc.).

When we moved to an online system, we knew there could be challenges and unforeseen consequences. As we’ve continued dialogue over the past three years with student leadership, we have made changes to best address concerns, but there were always going to be inherent issues with the online system.

The 2018-19 student leadership approached us with a series of priorities for student ticketing and asked us to evaluate the system and work with them on a new solution. Their priorities were 1) continuing the unique Clemson practice of providing a completely free opportunity for students to attend football games; 2) allowing those students who wanted the opportunity to secure a season ticket the chance to purchase one; 3) ensuring all Hill tickets remain free while making sure The Hill is full; 4) providing an opportunity for a free experience in each student section – Hill, Lower Deck and Upper Deck; and 5) making a portion of tickets available on the day of the game.

The new system announced today addresses all five of the student priorities, greatly increases the likelihood of getting tickets to those who will attend the game, and does so in a manner consistent with Clemson traditions.

WHY WILL IT BE BETTER THAN PREVIOUS VERSIONS?

Just as we do with our entire gameday operation, we constantly review our practices to ensure we’re creating the best circumstance for our fans to have a great experience, and continually evaluate our student ticketing operation to find out where it can be improved. Listening to feedback from students, we believe the three opportunities to secure a student ticket – 1) season ticket, 2) single-game lottery, and 3) gameday distribution, provide the best solution to answer the most common concerns from recent years.

The new system is designed to get tickets into the hands of students who are most invested in attending the game be it a financial commitment for a season ticket or a time commitment of picking up their free ticket.

While there’s likely no perfect solution, Clemson continues to provide 10,200 tickets to a student body of over 18,000, continues to provide a free ticket to those who wish to attend, and continues to not charge students an athletic fee.

WHAT IS THE NEW PLAN?

You can see all of the details of the new student ticketing plan online at www.Clemsontigers.com, but a few of the highlights are below:

Students will now have three different opportunities to acquire a football ticket:

  • Season Ticket – up to 3,600 available for purchase in August
  • Free Single-Game Tickets – 5,100 available through online registration and confirmation in August, with ticket distribution week of game
  • Day of Game Tickets – 1,500 (plus any other unclaimed) available on gameday morning

The registration process for season tickets will open August 1, and further details, including step-by-step instructions for registration and distribution, will be communicated later this summer.

IPTAY Collegiate Club, which has grown to over 8,000 members in recent years, will continue to play an important role in the student ticketing process. As part of their benefits, Collegiate Club members will continue to receive priority access to tickets through this new ticketing plan.

We appreciate the passion our students show in support of our football program (as well as all of our sports), and we certainly appreciate the passion of our fans and IPTAY donors. As we constantly evolve our operations to provide the best possible experience, we welcome any comments or suggestions at fanfeedback@clemson.edu.

Thank you for all you do to support Clemson Athletics and Clemson University.

Go Tigers,

Dan Radakovich                Davis Babb
